Love the photos and the 8 tips. My husband and I will make sure we visit Alcatraz, now! Neither of us has been to CA before but Alcatraz is a prison I’ve heard about since I was a young one. One question: I am a Type II diabetic. I read where we can take water bottles with us on the tour however, I usually carry a small snack in my purse just in case my sugars go too low. Is it permissable to eat a small snack like let’s say a candy bar? Or those sugar coins? Just wanting to plan ahead. Thank you. Looking forward to this part of our trip.

Unfortunately it does look like you can only eat on the docks but I think if you explain the circumstances to the workers they may make an exception!
