The Canadian National Exhibition (the CNE) is currently on at Exhibition Place in Toronto. It’s an annual event that takes place between mid-August and Labour Day. It also officially marks the end of the summer and start of school. It’s a fun-filled event with tons to see, do and eat. I’ve put together some of my favorite CNE pictures to motivate you to check this event out before it ends. Or to bookmark it as a reason to come to Toronto next summer!
The Farm building has a ton of cute animals to check out including this cute alpaca
The Sky Ride has been around since 2012 and is a great way to see everything that goes on at the Ex. It’s highest point is 40 feet.
The Ex is particularly known for it’s crazy food. Traditional vendors like Tim Hortons even get in on the fun with these Jolly Rancher and Fruit Loops covered donuts
This beautiful piece of food is a deep fried blueberry pie. And it was absolutely delicious!
This is the Golden Girl Milkshake from Fran’s. It’s pretty much a heart attack in a cup. But look at how photogenic this drink is!
Gourmet Popcorn with a historical building in the background? Why not. You can find almost anything at the CNE
The guy at the front there is an Olympic winning athlete and you can see him perform for free at the CNE!
The hobby building is filled with little stalls selling everything from neon signs to metal artwork to custom socks to baked goods
New to the CNE this year is the brand new CNE sign. Torontonians love their Toronto sign so this totally makes sense.
There’s always a lot of exhibitions going on (the Canadian National EXHIBITION.. get it??) so there’s tons to see and do. This one is a celebration of Canada in honor of Canada 150. There’s art, origami, artifacts and photography celebrating all parts of Canada.
The Ex totally comes alive at night and it’s one of the best times to walk around it. Pro tip, if you come on a weekday after 5 pm admission is only $5!
As if there wasn’t enough to do you can find dozens of different carnival games to win these adorable stuffed animals at
The CNE takes place during a (usually) very hot time of the summer and cooling down with a slush or fruit drink is the best way to keep enjoying your day
The live entertainment includes a variety of street performers including Mighty Mike
The exhibition includes a garden show and a topiary
There’s also a butter sculpting competition which is slightly weird but come on. A sort of life sized butter statue of Justin Trudeau with two pandas? So cool!
If you’re getting tired you can always relax at the bar by the beach! (No, that’s obviously not a real beach but that shouldn’t stop you)
Why not get a henna tattoo while you’re here as well?
Who knew you could also get home decor inspiration at the CNE?
This giant floating cow indicates that you’ve found the Farm Building! The smell usually also indicates it.
Is there anything more carnival than turkey legs and deep fried oreos??
Tiny Toms are a tradition. These are the cinnamon sugar ones. You may also try apple cinnamon, chocolate or powdered sugar (but cinnamon sugar is totally the best one)
You’re bound to get a great picture or two with the CN Tower as the background while roaming around the grounds of the CNE
Cheesecake on a stick and a Jolly Rancher Egg Tart. So. Good.
This game gets you. 25 cents per ball. But it’s so hard you end up spending way too much! 20 bucks later and I took home one of those adorable cows though 😀
Given how much we ate this ride definitely wouldn’t have been a good idea but the colors are lovely
One final look on the grounds from above
Food, rides, entertainment, exhibitions and games. What more can you really need? There’s still a few days left to check out the CNE so I’d recommend heading there asap and be prepared to have lots of fun! What part of the CNE looks the most fun to you? Let me know in the comments!
